Cavan 3-10

Antrim 2-10

Cavan Masters earned a place in the Gaelic Masters Association Challenge Cup Final courtesy of a 3-10 to 2-10 victory over Antrim Masters Gaelic Football at Clogher Eire Ogs.

Cavan played with the breeze in the first half and had the ball in the Antrim net three times in the opening eight minutes. The goals from Colm Reilly, Keith Fannin and Michael McGovern, which were all great team moves, looked to give Cavan a match winning lead however Antrim settled into the game and started putting the Cavan defence under pressure.

They had some goal opportunities and only resolute defending and a Man of the Match performance from Gareth Corrigan kept the gap at nine points at half time, Cavan 3-5 Antrim 0-5.

In the second half, Antrim, aided by the breeze, launched direct ball in on the Cavan rearguard.

Cavan maintained control of the game, however two goals in the last 10 minutes, one of them from a penalty, left only three in it but Cavan didn't panic and controlled the game to the final whistle for a deserved win.

Cavan will now take on Sligo in the final this Sunday at 2pm at Enfield (St Croan’s GAA) at 2pm.
