The Chase is on!

Castletara National School is bringing the hugely popular ‘The Chaser’ quiz show to Cavan as a fundraiser for the local school.
The gameshow, which was launched in the Orchard Bar last weekend, will be hosted in the Hotel Kilmore on April 7.
This is the first time that this show will feature in the Breffni county and the school is already experiencing a huge interest from hopeful contestants.
This incredibly successful show, which is provided Pallas Marketing Ltd, is being hosted by the Castletara Parents Association to assist in fundraising for a playground and polytunnel at the school.
MC for last Saturday night’s launch was the entertaining Liam Murphy. The event was officially launched by Neal Tully – one half of Gogglebox Ireland’s Tully Twins from Cornafean. Neal became the first person to purchase a ticket for the show.
Contestants are drawn from the audience and answer seven questions with four possible answers, which can accumulate up to €1,000.  After each correct answer, the contestants choose if they wish to bank the amount won or take another question.
Contestants have two lifelines ‘Ask the audience’ and ‘Fifty Fifty’, which will reduce the number of answers by half. Each lifeline can be used only once. Contestants then take the amount won to face ‘The Chaser’.
The Chaser will offer 150% of amount won to take a step nearer or 30% of amount won to take a step nearer home.
Principal Declan Maguire said: “This Thrilling Nationwide Experience makes its first appearance in Cavan. We have been in contact with several others groups who hosted ‘The Chaser’ around the country with great success. We are all looking forward to a great family night at the show.”
Mr Maguire also thanked their sponsors - McBreen Environmental, Erne Motor Works, the Imperial Bar, the Orchard Bar, DT One Menswear, Ulster Bank Ltd, J.J. McCauley Construction, Brendan Maguire Carpentry, Hewlec Electrical and Christy Dooley Garden Maintenance. Others interested in supporting can contact Castletara@yandex.com
“Coincidentally the school quiz team won the Credit Union Chapter Level Quiz on Sunday last in Castleblayney and have now qualified for the All-Ireland final, which takes place in the RDS in Dublin on the same date as The Chaser. Our school had a fantastic result last year finishing a close second and hope to go one better this year. The team are hoping to have the All-Ireland Credit Union Cup back in the Hotel Kilmore that evening before the show commences,” said Mr Maguire.
