B'duff or Kells for new Hobbs RTE programme

By the end of this week, one community in either Ballyjamesduff in Cavan, or Kells in neighbouring county Meath will have been chosen to give and take a little and in doing so make their neighbour's wishes come true for an all new RTÉ television programme.

Fronted by finance guru Eddie Hobbs 'Give or Take' looks to bring together a group of people from the same area to form a 'Give or Take' Club for one month. Everyone must be prepared to Give a Wish, or Take a Wish. Everyone will make a ‘Wish List’, writing down things they want or need – small and big: a holiday; a better car; a job share; a makeover; a garden makeover; respite care; one night out a week

Everyone lists their assets: goods; time; skills. This is the Give Or Take List. Acting together the Club can realise some, but not all, of their list. And not without some sacrifice, selfless action, innovation and good old horse-trading. What could you change on your own doorstep in the space of just one month?

Hobbs will meantime use all his financial know-how and negotiating skills to help your community uncover the hidden assets, resources and skills to achieve as much of the list as possible. He’ll set out to pair wants and needs with available assets.

RTÉ have narrowed it down to two communities in the region, Ballyjamesduff in Cavan and Kells in neighbouring Meath and at present, are making one last push to encourage people from those areas to get involved.

A spokesperson for the show told The Anglo-Celt: “There has been a great response in Ballyjamesduff and Kells and lots of people have already applied for the show, but we are still seeking more applications.

“You can sign up on your own, with a partner or friends, or as a group or household. Those participating must have availability for filming during September 2013 – specific dates will be confirmed as far in advance as possible.

"Eddie will meet the Club once a week to set challenges and offer financial tips and tools to achieve them. The Club meeting will be filmed for the show. Eddie will follow up with some individuals or households one on one as the Club progresses."

If you live in or near Ballyjamesduff or Kells and are over 18 and would like to take part, please contact ASAP for an application form: giveortake@indiepics.ie or call 01-7088192 / 01-7088157.
