A total of €6.5 million has been allocated for the development of 38 new social homes across County Cavan.
Fine Gael Senator Joe O’Reilly has confirmed to The Anglo-Celt that 19 new social housing units are to be developed in Mullagh, 13 in Cavan Town and six in Belturbet.
Welcoming the news, he said that the homes are to be delivered through Cavan County Council's Local Authority Construction Programme under the Government's Rebuilding Ireland Strategy.
“This investment by Government will provide for the development of 38 new social housing units across Cavan. Over €2 million of this investment will allow for the construction of 13 new two-bed social houses in Elm Grove, Cavan Town. €3.2 million is being invested in Mullagh where 9 two-bed homes and 10 three-bed houses will be provided at the Main Street. The further allocation of over €1 million is for the development of two one-bed housing units and four two-bed social homes at Holborn Hill, Belturbet.
“Providing new social homes in communities across Cavan is vital in terms of ensuring the housing needs of every individual and every family in our county," said Senator O'Reilly.
