Hume doc to premiere on RTE

A documentary, titled in the 'Name of Peace: John Hume in America' by Belturbet film-maker and author Maurice Fitzpatrick, received its television premiere on RTÉ One on Tuesday last. It previously premiered at the Galway Film Fleadh last year.

Boasting input from two US presidents – Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton. That duo join John Major, Tony Blair and others, the documentary Hume’s negotiations in the United States in a bid to employ their influence in securing the Peace Process.

Born and raised in Belturbet, Mr Fitzpatrick studied English at Trinity College Dublin before spending time living and working in Norway, Japan and Germany.

His previous works include a film about Brian Friel’s Translations and, in 2009, a study of several illustrious alumni of St Columb’s College in Derry and its past pupils Seamus Heaney, Phil Coulter, Seamus Deane and Eamonn McCann.
