Garda warning over tool thefts

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses after tools were taken from a shed in the New Inns area at the weekend.

The theft was discovered to have occurred between Friday-Saturday, August 10-11, with a separate attempted burglary reported to have occurred between August 5-8 at the Clifferna Group Water Scheme. A lock was damaged and an attempt to gain entry made, but nothing taken. Elsewhere, a Cat Trap was taken from outside the Cavan SPCA shop on Thomas Ashe Street in Cavan Town.

Warning

Gardaí are warning home and business owners to secure their property.
Recently Mullahoran Community Alert held a successful property marking event.

The public meeting was well attended by local people keen to have their Eircodes engraved onto their gardening equipment and various tools.
Coupled with appropriate signage, it's hoped the marking will prove an effective way to deter criminals from taking property and selling it on.
The property marking machine is available to community groups from Cavan County Council.
Anyone with information in relation to the above incidents is asked to contact Cavan Gardaí on 049-4368800.
