Ploughing cancelled due to winds

As Cavan continues to be buffeted by Storm Ali the tropical storm is having a significant impact on others areas of the country.

The second day of the National Ploughing Championships in Tullamore has been cancelled due to public safety concerns.

The opening of the site had initially been delayed two hours from 9am to 11am, before it was then put back to this afternoon.

Padraic McCabe and Danny Packenham were due to participate in the Vintage Class in Screggan today [Wednesday].

The decision has now been made to cancel the second day of the three-day event.

There are still a number of Cavan households without electricity and ESB crews continue to work on a number of faults across the county.
