Magic in Mullahoran

The uplifting tones of Tommy Fleming will ring out in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Mullahoran, tonight (December 13). The virtuoso singer will perform in this unique setting in a one-off show.

Malachy O'Reilly, one of the organisers of the event, explained the idea behind staging the hugely popular setting in such a beautiful location: “It's in aid of the Killydoon Development Association and Mullahoran Hall. There is a good bit of work going on in the village at the minute. We are doing up the old forge in the village. We are putting in new footpaths and we upgrading the windows in the hall.”
The singer has built up a huge following across Ireland with his exceptional voice. After 25 years honing his craft, Tommy is at the forefront of popular music. The mere mention of a Tommy Fleming concert has ‘sold out’ signs being displayed at venues from Dublin to Darwin within the space of minutes.
Tommy makes each song his own with his unique and powerful style touching emotions in you that only music can reach. Tommy is famous for his own arrangements of ‘Danny Boy’, ‘Isle of Inisfree’ and ‘Hard Times’ - all songs that you know and love but you have never heard them until you hear Tommy Fleming’s versions.
He also does cover versions of ‘You Raise Me Up’, ‘Bridge over Troubled Waters’, ‘From a Distance’ and ‘Something Inside So Strong’, along with many more contemporary numbers.
“The reason we went for Tommy is because he sells himself. He is known nationwide and, so far, we have about half the tickets sold by word of mouth. People want to go to see him. People want to support the community fundraising drive, so it's nice to give them something that they will enjoy going to,” Malachy said.
Holding the concert in Our Lady of Lourdes Church brings something special to the concert: “It's a great location. The time of year will help as well. It's the week before Christmas and people will want to go out with their parents. There are a lot of older people buying tickets because it is in a church and it is a very spiritual show.”
The Tommy Fleming concert will take place in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Mullahoran, tonight (December 13). Tickets, €30, are available from Lynch’s shop in Killydoon or on the door.
