Virginia bypass feedback deadline extended

The deadline for feedback from the public in relation to the proposed N3 Virginia Bypass has been extended to this Friday, April 17.
It follows a two-day public consultation on plans at the Virginia Show Centre, March 11-12.
In total there are nine possible route options available - four to the west of Lough Ramor, towards Oldcastle; and five to the east, on the Killinkere side, with a number of variations or links between route options also.

Overall, the project is currently at Phase 2 (options selection) in the TII roadmap for development, with a preferred route expected to be decided by Spring/Summer 2021.
Once completed, the total estimated cost of the project could top €130m.
More information on the project is available at www.n3virginiabypass.ie and the Cavan County Council website.

Dunancory bridge
Separately, Cavan County Council has published online the Part 8 Notice concerning its plans to widen the existing bridge at Dunancory near Virginia.
The proposed works will provide enhanced facilities for pedestrians and vehicular traffic by constructing a bridge widening to the northeast side of the existing bridge.
This includes a 6.5 metre bridge widening of approximately 35 metres in length and road embankment widening of approximately 60 metres in length.
Rehabilitation works will also be carried out including the removal of the existing steel rail parapet at the southwest face, lighting and construction of new stone wall to match the existing stonewall.
Submissions or observations with respect to the proposed development may be made in writing to Cavan County Council or emailed to dunancory@cavancoco.ie on or before 4pm on Tuesday, April 28.
