Jinx Lennon.

The Railway Station in Belturbet is the last stop for Jinx Lennon's Magic Rawness And Rage Tour this month... The Dundalk native and punk poet is coming to Cavan on November 28 to conclude his tour in a gig being promoted by Maccana Teoranta and Origins.

The night will be a mixture of music and poetry thanks to support from Cavan band String Theory (the O'Brien brothers and Co.) and there will be a special appearance by The talented, Derry-based Poetry Chicks.

String Theory are an energetic five-piece band from Cavan who perform a mix of original dance, rock, folk and reggae tunes and a selection of good covers. Those vary from gig to gig, and include songs by Neil Young, The Cure, Bob Dylan, Kings of Leon, Talking Heads, The Beatles, Van Morrison, The Doors, Josh Ritter, Bob Marley, The Jam, The Clash and more.

The band members are Lee O'Brien on guitar and vocals, Michael O'Brien on guitar and vocals, Ferdia O'Brien on guitar, keyboard and vocals, Jamie Byrne on bass and Tom Flynn on drums. The band are all members of Rust Never Sleeps Neil Young Tribute Band and various other musical ventures. They are also all regular performers at the Origins Original Music Sessions in Cavan and Belturbet.

Poetry duo The Poetry Chicks will be giving a small taster of their show Feck Yer Cosy Home, which has been receiving great reviews.

The event, which is presented by Maccana Teoranta in association with Origins, is ticket only - call to Multisound or call Ine on 086-1275310 for more.

Tributes: For me the best songwriter in the country at the moment is Jinx Lennon - Christy Moore. Jinx is a true individual, and there will always be a place for him or at least someone like him in Irish music - The Irish Times.
