'Korea’ screening
Where: Keeper’s Arms, Bawnboy
When: Friday, August 19, 9pm
What: The film 'Korea’ will be screened in the Keeper’s Arms dining room, Bawnboy, on Friday night, August 19, at 9pm. A Cheese and wine reception. Admission €10. Your support would be greatly appreciated. It’s a fundraiser intended to raise the money for Isabel Rófe’s skydive on Saturday August 27 to raise funds for St Luke’s Hospital.

Meath Through the Lens
Where: Kells
When: August 20-21
What: An exhibition of some 60 framed photographs by members of North Meath Photographic Society, will take place in The Heritage Centre, Kells over two successive weekends: August 20-21 and August 27-28 running each day from noon-5pm.
The photographs depict varying aspects of County Meath and will be of interest to anybody with a love of the county. All of the photographs are for sale at just €50 each fully framed and mounted.
North Meath Photographic Society is a Kells-based photography club which meets once a fortnight from September to June. Their activities include field-trips, guest speakers, tutorials and workshops on different aspects of photography. New members are always welcome and information about membership can be had at the exhibition.

Charity Run

Ballinamuck Olde Fair Day

What: Co Longford Vintage Parade from Gaigue Cross to the 98 Bar. Special guests: Declan Nerney, MicK Flavin, Longford Pipe Band and much more live music through out the day with a host of local talent. Come and visit Johnny’s New Tatched Cottage, Vintage Display, Traditional Crafts, Prizes for Old Time Costumes, Animals, Guess the Weight, Cow Bingo, Model Farm Machinery, Tug of War, Dog Show, Ducking Chair, Pony & Trap’s, Boxty making, Butter making, Basket making, Wood Carving, ICA Cafe, music & dancing and much much more. Shannon Gaels

Bunnoe Summer Festival

What: The festival takes place this weekend, Friday August 19 to Sunday August 21. For more see Bunnoe News, pages 26-27. It opens on Friday night with ' Stars in their eyes’ in Bunnoe Community Centre at 9.30pm - great night of music, comedy and laughter. BBQ and bar extension.
Saturday, August 20 - U14 fishing competition from 1-3pm. Smartie party at 6pm. Family sports day on Sunday, August 21 at 1.30pm, featuring U10 football; fancy dress parade, races and many other novelties; music in community centre from 9-11pm.

McCabe Clan Rally

What: Everyone wth McCabe surname, or remote asociation, should attend this year’s special celebration. Folowing a talk, complimentary refreshments, exhibition of memorabilia and researcher available on the day.

Guided historical walk around Virginia
Where: Virginia lake shore (alongside Virginia College) to Deerpark Forest.
When: Monday August 22, 7pm
What: Guided historical walk on the history of L. Ramor, Virginia Park Lodge, the boat houses, the lady’s cottage, the ice house and Deerpark Forest in general. Refreshments in Show Centre afterwards. All are welcome.

Gardening Club
Where: Ballinagh Community Centre

What: Ballinagh Gardening Club annual show will feature James Scott Trophy for flower arranging. One entry in each category - see Ballinagh local news for list of categories. Entries €2 per section. Women’s Shed

What: Meeting at 7pm in the Community Centre to set up a women’s shed in the parish. There will be a guest speaker on the night. All who are interested in the idea are invited to attend. Tea and biscuits will be served on the night.

Drumlane Lecture
Where: Kilmore Diocesan Pastoral Centre

What: As part of National Heritage Week, Mgsr. Liam Kelly will give a talk on 'The Augustinian Priory of Drumlane, c.1140-1600”, in the Kilmore Diocesan Pastoral Centre, Cullies, Cavan. All welcome. Admission is free and refreshments will be served afterwards.

Liam McNiffe Talk
Where: Ballinamore Library
When: Tuesday, August 23, 8pm
What: Historian and author, Dr Liam McNiffe will present 'Reading the Rising, One Rebellion, Many Views’. It is hoped that questions and discussion will follow the presentation. This talk forms part of the Leitrim Libraries National Heritage Week schedule of events. It is free and everyone is welcome.

Ballroom Dancing
Where: Errigal Country House Hotel, Cootehill
When: Wednesday, August 24
What: Dancers will welcome the first appearance at the Errigal of Tony and Bernie Bird. They make the long journey up from Wicklow to play this gig, so organisers are looking forward to a packed house. There will be a presentation made to Cootehill’s Holy Family School on the night.
