Cavan Christmas special on the airwaves

When you're full of all the turkey and festive TV you can take after your Christmas dinner, tune in to the radio for a special broadcast from Donohoe's Mince Pie Cottage, at a mystery location in Cavan.

Cavan-man Martin Donohoe, Nyah musicians and friends will be helping to bring even more colour to the airwaves with a Seisiún Ceoil na Nollag radio special on Northern Sound on Christmas night from 7pm to 9pm.

"Tune in on the night and call back to memory those happy days of yore with the old céilí house," urges Martin, presenter of The Wind That Blows, "and be part of a very atmospheric traditional programme featuring Christmas hymns, thoughts and music."

Invited guests will include former RTE Fáilte Isteach presenter Aidan O'Hara, Joyce O'Hara, singer and songwriter Charlie McGettigan, sean nós dancers Betty Leddy and Rosaleen Smith, accordionist Philip Clarke, Mick Foster of Foster and Allen, musician Moyra Fraser, talented young knitwear designer Sinead Clarke, John Wynne and John McEvoy on the feadog mor and fiddle, Joao Soares on mandolin, a new recording star from Shercock David Cadden, Cavan lilter Seamus Fay, Longford's Peter Carberry on accordion and his daughter Angelina, tenor guitar, Noel Battle,eleven times all Ireland Mouth Organ Winner, chairman 2010 All-Ireland Fleadh Jack Keyes, Dervish flute-player Liam Kelly and Fintan McManus. Satellite engineer on the night will be Power FM's Mike Mulvihill. Martin reminds people that this link with Cavan on Christmas night will be all the more special to those overseas.

"Text, email or phone, but remind your family and friends to tune in on the world wide web on Christmas night at 7pm." The show is part of the Nyah County Cavan arts group work in keeping music live and giving access for all to the culture.
