Image of man wanted over alleged sex assault released

Gardai investigating the alleged sexual assault of a woman at a local music festival earlier this summer have released an image of a man sought in connection with the incident.
The alleged sexual assault is said to have occurred during the Cowboys and Heroes Festival at Drumcoura, near Ballinamore, Co Leitrim.
The assault is reported to have occurred at around 5.30am on the morning on Sunday, June 3.

The injured party was staying a tepee tent in the camping area of the festival, when its understood an uninvited male entered her tent. She woke to find a man “ lying beside her on her sleeping bag”, after which the alleged sexual assault then took place.
The culprit subsequently fled the scene.
Gardaí were soon after alerted of the incident by festival management, and a search was carried out of the local area.
An EVOFIT facial recognition image was compiled of the suspect, which was last week posted on social media in the hope it may aid gardaí in their hunt for information, and hopefully lead to capturing the predator.
The male in the image is described as aged in his 30s, with sandy coloured hair. He was said to have been wearing blue jeans, a blue check shirt, and black slip-on shoes at the time.
In particular, gardaí are also appealing to any festival attendees who have had “any interaction with a man matching the description” from the Evofit.
“Did you travel to the festival site from Ballinamore or Carrigallen with someone matching the suspect’s description?”, gardaí have asked, urging anyone with information to come forward by contacting Ballinamore Gardaí on 0719644002, or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800-666-111.
