The main building was built circa 1730.

A unique property at Lismore, Crossdoney, County Cavan, has come to the market through O'Reilly, Taylor And Tweedy. With lands reportedly used by Owen Roe O'Neill and his army in the 1600s, this breath-taking residence includes a castle and a bell tower and stunning original features.

The property comprises restored sections of the original historic castle complex standing on six acres of prime quality parkland with a stream running through.

Lismore is situated beside Crossdoney village, six miles from Cavan town, and is convenient to the River Erne, Killykeen Forest Park and various other scenic locations, three miles from Farnham Estate Radisson Hotel and Golf Course.

The main building, which has been restored to a high standard, was built circa 1730 and is attributed to the renowned Architect Sir Edward Lovett Pearce.

Accommodation on the ground floor consists of: a large living room with a cast iron fireplace, four internal brick pillars and arched brick ceilings, kitchen and dining area (20ft x 15ft) fitted to a high standard with arched brick ceiling plus utility, sitting room (15ft x 12ft) with arched brick ceiling, solid fuel stove, sun lounge (20ft x 12ft).

The upstairs area, which is approached by a period-style hardwood staircase, contains a spacious landing and four bedrooms: bedroom one (24ft x 18ft) with en-suite, bedroom two (18ft x 12ft) with en-suite, and bedrooms three and four (18ft x 12ft each), a main bathroom and large walk-in hot-press.

The property has oil-fired central heating and all rooms, on both the ground floor and upstairs, have original brick pillars and original arched brick ceilings.

The bell tower has a reception area (10ft x 9ft) and spacious landing area, original room (15ft x 15ft) with arched stone fireplace, shower room and oil-fired central heating throughout.

The selling agent notes that this is a particularly interesting one-off property.

"Lismore is a very historical property and the records show that Owen Roe O'Neill and his army used the lands as a camp site in the years 1641 to 1649 and in particular in the year 1646," according to Martin O'Reilly.

Price is available on application and viewing is strictly by appointment with the auctioneers.
