Suicide awareness charity to host New Year's Eve Ball

Following on from a hugely successful Cavan Darkness into Light walk earlier this year, suicide and self-harm awareness charity Pieta House is to host a Masquerade Ball to be held on New Year's Eve 2012 at the Kilmore Hotel. An exclusive event with numbers limited to 15 tables of 10, guests on the night will be treated to a mulled wine reception, followed by five course meal, a charity auction, music entertainment and champagne at midnight. Dress code for the night is Black Tie, Ball Gowns, and Masks, while tickets cost €75 per person or €750 per table. Organiser's told The Anglo-Celt, "all profits will go to Pieta House, Centre for the Prevention of Suicide and Self-harm. As always, our secondary aim is to raise awareness of the services that Pieta House provides, and our long term goal would be the opening of a Pieta House centre here in Cavan. "Masks can be shop bought, or if you're feeling creative you're welcome to make your own. Music will be provided by Eamon Smith and Gene Bannon, and DJ will be Northern Sound's Sean McCaffrey. Among the items being put up for auction are tickets to a Manchester United game, a year's gym membership, and a signed Donegal Jersey. "We'd like to thank again anyone who took part in our first ever Cavan Darkness into Light walk back in May. Your support meant a great deal and helped raise valuable funds for Pieta House, helping them to continue their valuable work in providing counselling for anyone contemplating suicide or self-harm. We are currently in the planning stages for the May 2013 walk and we hope to see you there." Tickets for the ball are currently on sale at the Kilmore Hotel reception or can be obtained by contacting Claire on 086 8110103. Alternatively, members of the committee will be selling tickets in the lobby of the Kilmore Hotel from 6:30pm to 8pm on Wednesday, November 28, where you can also hear more information on the ball, including a sneak preview of the items that will be up for auction. As a special offer, organisers are promising a free Masquerade Ball ticket to anyone who books a table of 10 for the night.
