110 jobs to go from Liberty Insurance in Cavan

Liberty Insurance in Cavan are to make 110 people redundant in their Cavan Town headquarters as part of their restructuring programme. The company had initially set out to achieve 75 voluntary redundancies, however the scheme was so over subscribed, they accepted a further 25; while the company also sought to impose a further 10 compulsory redundancies. The announcement in November that Liberty were to make 285 jobs in their branches in Cavan (75), Enniskillen (70) and Blanchardstown (140) redundant came almost a year to the day since the company re-branded from the former Quinn Insurance to Liberty Insurance. The 30-day consultation period for these redundancies ended in December Liberty told The Anglo-Celt that of the redundancies at the company, the enforced 10 compulsory redundancies were "due to the reorganisation resulting in roles no longer existing within the company". The spokesperson for Liberty added that "a small number of people have already left at their own request , the first group of people leaving will do so at the end of January but the majority will leave at the end of March".
