Cavan knows... Laura is our Rose

Jenny McGovern

Twenty-six-year old Laura Galligan from Drung will represent Cavan at this year's Rose of Tralee Festival. The auburned-hair beauty who works as a senior scientist in the Office of the State Pathology no less, she won the judges over with her rendition of a poem, proof that Roses have both brains and beauty.

Her interests include forensics, current affairs, films and spending quality time with family and friends. She entered the Cavan Rose, she said, as it would be an experience renowned to be enjoyable and a memorable one. Speaking before the event she told the Celt: 'It will give me the chance to meet great people. If I became the Cavan Rose I would be incredibly proud to be able to represent my county and my parish in one of the most prestigious international festivals.'

Laura will now represent Cavan at the regional festival in Portlaoise at the end of May. We wish her the best of luck, not that she'll need it.
