Clones court briefs
Jailed for assault
Saulius Aksomaitis, Apartment 2, The Diamond, Clones, was sentenced to five months imprisonment by Judge Sean MacBride at Clones District Court when convicted of assaulting Kieran Duffy at Park Street, Monaghan, on November 26, 2006. He was given a concurrent four-months term when convicted of assaulting George Knight on August 20, 2006 at the Diamond, Clones. He was given a further concurrent four months for assaulting Diarmuid Johnson on the occasion and another concurrent three months for engaging in threatening and abusive behaviour at Rooskey on October 22, 2006.
The defendant was also fined €500 for driving without insurance at Killyconnigan, Monaghan, on August 6, 2006 and fined a further €500 for driving without insurance at Newtownbutler Road, Clones, on August 10, 2006. He was disqualified from driving for one year.
Recognisances were fixed in the event of appeal at €5,000.
Gave false name to Garda
Danny Fryers, Liseggerton, Clones, was jailed for two months by Judge Sean MacBride at Clones District Court when convicted of giving a false name and address to Garda Ciaran Thornton, following a demand made by Garda Thornton at Fermanagh Street, Clones, on December 18, 2009. The sentence will run concurrent with one the defendant is currently serving.
Drove with excess alcohol
Tadeusas Juchevicius, Freeman's House, Abbey Street, Clones, was fined €150 at Clones District Court for driving with excess alcohol, reading 67mg/100ml breath, at Cara Street, Clones, on January 3 last. He was also disqualified from driving for three years, effective from August 1, 2010.
At the same court, Marcin Luszcz, 10, Cara Street, Clones was fined €200 for driving with excess alcohol, reading 86mg/100ml breath, at McCurtain Street, Clones, on December 9, 2009. He was also disqualified from driving for three years, effective from June 1, 2010.
Intimidated with Samurai sword
Rosvaldas Daunoravicius, McCurtain Street, Clones, was given a six-month custodial sentence in Wheatfield prison by Judge Sean MacBride, at Clones District Court, when convicted of being in possession of a samurai sword with the intention of unlawfully intimidating, in that he produced it to a member of the public, causing them fear at Fermanagh Street, Clones, on September 5, 2009.
Recognisances were fixed in the event of appeal.
