Ordered to do 80 hours
community service
SEAN Owens, Tirnawannagh, Bawnboy, was ordered to do 80 hours of community service in lieu of two months. He was charged with using or engaging in threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent to provoke a breach of the peace at Main Street, Ballyconnell, on March 4.
Warrants issued at
Ballyconnell court
A NUMBER of bench warrants were issued at Ballyconnell District Court including Eventas Kibirkstis, 13 College Street, Cavan, who failed to appear on a charge of dangerous driving at Clonamullig, Ballyconnell, on March 24.
He was also charged with having no insurance on his vehicle on the same occasion.
A warrant was issued for Aleksandrs Voitins, 27 Railway Lough, Belturbet, when he failed to appear on a charge of having no insurance on h9s vehicle at Drumgesh, Milltown, Belturbet, on June 22. He was also charged with having no drivers licence.
A warrant was issued for Vitalijus Zonys, Raheens, Mountbellew, Galway, when he failed to appear on a charge of driving with excess alcohol at Leggykelly, Redhills, on October 5.

THE following were fined for driving with excess alcohol Leszek Knapik, Snakeel, Killeshandra, 63/100 breath, §300 and disqualified for two years three months from January 1, Leon Coffey, Railway Cottage, Killywilly, Ballyconnell, 37/100 breath, §100 and disqualified for one year, Andrej Lopatovsky, 24 Doon Road, Doumdoney, Derrylin, 104/100 breath, §300 and disqualified for three years, and Philip Cantwall, Putiaghan, Belturbet, 40/100 breath, §150 and disqualified for one year.
Sligo man pleaded guilty
to damaging pub window
A SLIGO man who damaged a plate glass window of a pub in Virginia has been warned that if a Probation Report is not favourable he faces the prospect of serving two months in jail.
Christopher Cummins (21), Castlelegal, Cliffoney, was charged with damaging the window at Main Street, Virginia, on October 28 to the value of §200. The property belongs to Eugene O'Dwyer. Inspector Cunningham said the defendant had a number of previous convictions. Judge Sean MacBride said the defendant had pleaded guilty to a serious offence. He directed he attended the Probation Service as well as an alcohol rehabilitation centre and an anger management course. Judge MacBride asked the Probation Service to provide a report on the defendant.
Motorists were driving without
insurance on vehicles
MICHAEL Prior (29), Tattygare, Rockcorry, was ordered by Judge Sean MacBride to donate §1,000 to Saint Vincent de Paul when he appeared before Monaghan District Court charged with having no insurance on his lorry.
The offence occurred at Moyles, Monaghan, on March 14. He was also charged with having no driver's licence, failing to keep recording equipment, no tax and no tax displayed.
The court was told that the defendant failed to change over his insurance from lorry to another. It was covered for another lorry and it was an oversight on his behalf.
Eddie McGuigan (38), 3 Mullaghcroghery, Clones Road, Monaghan, was fined §200 for having no insurance on his vehicle at Park Road on June 10.
Armagh man caught in
possession of cannabis
AN Armagh man who pleaded guilty to possessing cannabis resin in a Monaghan hotel has been ordered to donate €196 to the Cavan Drug Awareness Centre when he appeared at the local District Court.
David Harvey (20), 20 Umgola Heights, Armagh, was charged with the offence at the Hillgrove Hotel, Latlorcan, on September 27. Inspector P. McMorrow said hotel security staff noticed three people going into a disabled toilet. It was reported that one of them had dropped a substance going into a cubical. One of the security staff handed the substance to the Gardai and it turned out to be cannabis. It had a street value of §25.

hydrocarbon oil
Tom Sweeney, Crenagh, Killeshandra was fined €3000 mitigated to €1500 at Ballyconnell District Court for having hydrocarbon oil (red diesel) in his vehicle at Staghall, Belturbet, on February 22.
Youths get Probation Act
after damaging log cabin
TWO young men who broke into a log cabin causing €500 worth of damage were given the benefit of the Probation Act when they paid full compensation and made a donation to a charity.
Neill Browne (19), 15 Sean lee Drive, Belturbet, and Patrick Millar (21), 20 Saint Mary's Terrace, Belturbet, appeared before Ballyconnell District Court charged with damaging cabin No. 11, Kilcorby Log Cabin, Kilcorby, to the value of €500.
Publican permitted young
girls to be on premises
A Ballyconnell publican who permitted two young girls to be on his premises unaccompanied by their parents or guardians has been ordered to donate §500 to Saint Vincent de Paul and to pay €115 expenses.
Alan Giff, 1 Clondavil Road, Macken, Fermanagh, was charged with then offence at Dicey's Fiddle, Main Street, Ballyconnell, on October 31, 2006. Sergeant Heslin told the court he observed two girls in the bar. One was aged sixteen and a half and the other sixteen and nine months. Neither girl was consuming alcohol on the night but they should not have been there unaccompanied.
