Competitions

The next Cavan county round of a competition is Public Speaking Competition, on Saturday, November 7; contact Mary 086-3493816. Indoor Soccer on Sunday, November 29 at Killinkere Leisure Centre.

Young Farmer

Regional Young Farmer meeting on 28 October, Bush Hotel, Carrick-on-Shannon at 8pm. Forage Systems will attend, results and analysis of the Macra/Forage Systems Production from Forage competition. Regional winners of the silage competition announced.

Presentation

Cavan Macra annual presentation night, Friday, October 30, Lavey Inn, 9pm. All Cavan Macra members are asked to attend; some special awards will be made.

Queen of the Land

November 13-15 in Tullamore: PJ Gallagher, Friday, Bridge House Hotel; stage interviews and music by LOLS, Saturday; banquet and announcement of the 2009 queen at midnight, Sunday. Noelene Sharkey (above) from the Knockbride club, is representing Cavan.

Kings and Queens

Third Annual North West Macra Kings and Queens Night, Saturday, January 23 in Rooskey, Co. Leitrim. Catherine McCollum of Drung Macra won last year; can Cavan repeat its success?

Canada exchange 2010

Every year Macra na Feirme and the Junior Farmers Association of Ontario invite a Macra member to apply for an exchange to Canada from May to August (ages 19-30). The delegate will arrive on May 29, 2010 and depart Toronto on August 29 (or less than three months) Delegates need their own health and travel insurance and pay their travel costs; JFAO provides accommodation.
