The Lady of the Erne Festival is in its 20th year this year and the competition is even more popular than ever with contestants from all over Ireland. The event traditionally kicks off the annual Festival of the Erne in Belturbet.
Kelly O'Reilly, 22, will represent Belturbet in the competition this year and she will be joined by Aine O'Reilly, 25, from west Cavan and Adele Trenier representing Cavan town.
The Cavan contingent will face stiff competition for the coveted title with ladies from as far away as Cork and Limerick travelling to Belturbet for the event.
Festival director Mark Leonard said that this year the organisers were looking back and remembering everyone who has put so much hard work and dedication into establishing the cross-border event over the past 20 years. He said: "We're looking forward to a very successful event this Friday night and looking forward to seeing everyone."
The previous 19 winners of the Lady of the Erne competition have been invited back this year and the occasion will be marked by a special balloon release at the Slieve Russell Hotel at 7.30pm prior to the opening of the event on Friday.
All the ladies joining the competition have a packed schedule ahead of them this week as they meet the judges, tour the area and enjoy the festivities in the town.
UTV presenter Paul Clark is comparing the competition for the 20th year running while the judging panel will include Seamus Mourne better known as Mike from Fair City.
