The late Mr. Jim Fitzpatrick

It is with regret that we record the death, on Thursday, December 31, of Mr. Jim Fitzpatrick, Killygarry, had died. Jim was a devoted family man, kind and generous and a most obliging neighbour. His relaxed and easy going nature made him many friends in the community and surrounding area. He was deeply religious and his faith was always his priority.

A well-known and respected dry stock farmer, he had great ability to purchase prime livestock and his advice was much sought after at the different marts he attended. He was a member of the IFA and walked from Cavan to Dublin in October 1966 to help secure rights for farmers. He had a lifelong interest in the GAA and followed the fortunes of his club, Killygarry.

His untimely passing has left a great void in the life of his family and in the community. The large attendance at his removal and funeral on Saturday, January 2, following 11am Mass in St. Brigid's Church, Killygarry, was a testimony of the esteem in which he was held. Deepest sympathy is extended to his wife Gretta, daughters Kathleen and Angela, son Luke, brothers Tom, Paddy and Dessie, Killygarry, Norbert, Blanchardstown. Brendan and Phonsie, Bradford, England, and sisters Theresa Reilly, Breffni Stores, Cavan and Alice Rowe, Bradford, England, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces and many friends.

Cousin Jim you were always quiet and dignified and a man of deep faith in Christ. We sat in the same class in Killygarry. Down the years we always felt assured and supported when you were there. We will miss you for many a day and year to come. But are consoled with the sure hope of eternal life that you are enjoying with the Lord and the Blessed. Our prayerful sympathies to Gretta, Kathleen, Angela and Luke. Fr. Jim
