Mrs Margaret Brady, Ballinagh

THE death occurred at Cavan General Hospital on Tuesday, June 19 of Mrs Margaret Brady, Urney, Ballinagh and formerly Bridge St., Cavan, following a brief illness. Aged 72, Margaret was born on August 20, 1939 in Bridge St, Cavan. Daughter of the late John and Alice Donohoe, Margaret took over the grocery business and successfully ran it until she retired in March 1991. Margaret had a serious brain operation when she was a teenager and as a result suffered from epilepsy. However she never allowed her illness hold her back and she was very involved in the local community. She was one of the founding members of Cavan Tidy Towns and was also a member of Cavan Chamber of Commerce where she held the post of secretary for four years from 1976. She was also a member of the Ballinagh Christmas Lights committee and a committee member of Cavan Drama Festival since 1980. Among other voluntary bodies, in which she was very active, she was as a member of Cavan Branch of the Multiple Sclerosis Society. Married for 36 years to Eddie Brady, who has been Ballinagh News correspondent for the Anglo-Celt for many years, she is survived by her husband, best friend and constant companion Eddie; brothers, Fr Patrick Donohoe; Johnny, Noel and Eamonn and sisters, Anna, Celine, Essie and Alice as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, close friends and neighbours. The funeral took place from St Felim's Church, Ballinagh to Glasnevin Crematorium.
