Anglo-Celt Rehab Cavan Person of the Year 2010 nominees - Swanlinbar St Mary's
Swanlinbar St Mary's were fantastic ambassadors for County Cavan in 2010 and the early part of 2011. The close-knit west Cavan club played some magical football en route to lifting the Sean Leddy Cup when they won the county junior title last October in Breffni Park.
The club went on to win Division Three of the All County Football League before defeating teams from Derry and Down to reach the Ulster club final. While a controversial defeat was Swad's lot on the day, they were subsequently awarded the title and went on to defeat Leinster champions Ballinabrackey of Meath in the All Ireland semi-final.
Swad, captained by John Cunningham, were defeated in the All Ireland final by Kerry giants, Cahirciveen, but they held their end up well and did Cavan proud.
The match was the first time any Cavan team reached a championship final in Croke Park since 1952.
Swanlinbar are represented by popular club chairman Greg McGovern.
