In what has been a year of doom and gloom for the retail sector, Homemakers, Cavan has bucked the trend to win its third national award in as many years. It was named the 2010 Irish Electrical Appliance Retailer of the Year at the prestigious Irish Hardware Magazine Awards at a ceremony in the Shelbourne Hotel last week. This follows the titles of Co. Cavan Octabuild Builders Merchant Award 2009 and the Irish Retailer of the Year 2008 at the Irish Hardware Awards the previous year.
The latest prestigious award for best electrical retailer has been greatly received by Homemakers, general manager, Sandra Farrell. "To win such a prestigious award has not come without considerable effort from our fantastic team. We know we have spectacular showrooms with a huge range of products but this year we have strived to ensure that we have all leading brands at unbeatably low prices and I think that's where our success came from."
Ms . Farrell added: "I wish most sincerely to thank our loyal customers for their continued support. We are thrilled to have won this award ahead of so many other fantastic stores nationwide, in particular, ahead of some of the large multiples like B&Q and Homebase."
Looking to the future, she said: "We are very confident that if we continue to improve and grow along the same lines as we have - we will achieve even greater success in these awards in 2011 and beyond."
Homemakers were finalists for a number of other prestigious accolades including Homestore Retailer 2010 and overall Store of the Year. This confirms Homemakers standing among some of the country's finest superstores.
"We work tirelessly to ensure that Homemakers continues to improve and offer new and interesting customer experiences. This is done by constantly evolving our product range, product displays and seasonal promotions," said Ms. Farrell on why Homemakers continues to impress at the highest level. Irish Hardware magazine receives hundreds of category entries for its annual awards and the Electrical Appliance category is always a hotly contested one. This makes the achievement of Homemakers all the more impressive.
"We have seen in these awards, how, year-on-year, merchants have consistently raised their game," said Martin Foran of the awards. In the electrical appliance category, display, pricing, technical knowledge and range are all important. The judges felt that Homemakers in Cavan went that little bit further in this category.
"This is one of the best hardware and homestore businesses in the country and the electrical department is a well-stocked and well-staffed one. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. The department is well designed and welcoming to shoppers," remarked the judges.
Homemakers Cavan has been in business for over 30 years and operate from a state-of-the-art 55,000 sq. ft. store on the Dublin Road.
