Joy as exam results delivered

There were scenes of jubilation in schools across County Cavan last Wednesday as students received their Junior Cert results after an agonising three-month wait. In all, 829 students sat their exams in the county last June (403 girls and 426 boys) with those students now in the senior cycle in either Transition Year or Fifth Year. The results of the state exams, which are the foundation for the Leaving Cert programme and a dummy run for students sitting state exams, were also available to students online using their exam number and designated PIN. Those who feel they deserved a better result in a particular subject have until 5pm on Friday, October 1, to lodge their applications for review with the State Examinations Commission. The fee for this service is €32 per subject, which will be refunded in the event that a result is upgraded. Applications are accepted only from a school authority who must confirm that the result obtained is at variance with the result expected. The results of appeals will be posted in the week ending, November 20. The official marking schemes in all subjects are available on the website - www.examinations.ie.
