Virginia College have given Cavan football a timely shot in the arm with their second McDevitt Cup win, against a strong Glenties side, today (Thursday). Virginia were the better team in normal time and led by five points with nine minutes to go, but a late Glenties goal forced extra time. Down to 14 men, Virginia upped the ante in extra time and ran out two point winners. They kicked the final six points of the match and Lewis Fay-Cooper from Killinkere landed 1-5 from play. Captain Eoin Somerville received the cup to the delight of the huge travelling support. Final score: Virginia 3-16, Glenties 3-14
