Who are you backing for the Presidency?
With all the presidential nominations now in, Michael Cryan of The Anglo-Celt and photographer Brian Mulligan took to the streets of Cootehill to get the views of the people there as to the candidates and how they propose to vote. With the presidential election due to take place in three weeks time, there was a mixed reaction with some claiming the election was a waste of time while others categorically denied they would not be voting. Here is a flavour of their comments... Thomas Argue of Argue Meats, Bridge Street, said: "None of the candidates inspire me." He had not made up his mind as to how he was going to vote but stressed he would cast his vote. Mr Argue was aware of people who were not going to vote. He listened to a television debate with the candidates last Wednesday and he still could not make up his mind. Mary Argue, Thomas's mother and a retired school teacher, stated that the election had become a "bit of a joke". She stated the whole election process needed to be radically changed. "There are to many candidates seeking the job and it is most unedifying and politicised." Full story in The Anglo-Celt.
