Swellan house fire under investigation

Garda forensic experts have launched an investigation into a house fire in Cavan town last Thursday in which the building was completely gutted.
The fire at Swellan, close to Cavan Rugby Club, was reported shortly after 6pm on Thursday when the emergency services were alerted. A number of fire units from Cavan and Belturbet Fire stations were quickly on the scene but at that stage the fire had taken hold.
According to local residents, the three-bed bungalow had been vacant for a short time and what was concerning them was the fact that this was the third house in the area to suffer fire damage. The two other fires caused minor damage compared to the incident last week.
