Pictured at Annagh Lake Butlersbridge for the 44th annual Cavan Icebreakers Christmas Morning Swim were 59 swimmers who took part. This number was up on last year as the weather conditions were much milder and easier for the swimmers.

Icebreakers brave the choppy waters of Annagh Lake

Weather conditions for the Cavan Icebreakers' 44th Annual Christmas Morning Swim at Annagh Lake, Butlersbridge couldn't have been more different from last year. Last year, water temperatures were sub-zero, there were five inches of ice to contend with and air temperatures were 10 degrees below freezing. This year, water temperatures were 10 degrees and air temperature was 12 degrees. Conditions this year were almost perfect, but for the biting cold wind that was blowing around the lake as swimmers and supporters arrived.
