Night Ramble Under the Stars
Where: Dartrey Forest, Cootehill

What: An exciting challenge for walkers looking for a different experience in the great outdoors. Registration St Michael’s Hall, Cootehill 8.15pm. Walk will be followed by a Blue Grass session. Round Table Quiz

What: Annual Charity Cycle from Croagh Patrick to Ballinagh, are having a round table quiz. All funds raised are in aid of Autism Ireland, Chnoic Mhuire Cootehill, Templestreet Hospital and SoSad charities. Tables are €40.

Patsy Lee Commemorative Concert


Where: Crosskeys Resource Centre

Tractor run

What: Driver only allowed on tractor. Proceeds in aid of Drumavaddy Community Centre Renovation Fund and a donation will be given to sosad.

Annual ice cream party!

Cavan Ploughing Championships


Where: Ballymachugh
When: Monday, May 5
What: By kind permission of Gerry Galligan the Cavan Ploughing Championship will be held in Carrick, Ballymachugh. Proceeds will go to Ballymachugh Church Renovation Fund and to St Paul’s Church of Ireland, Ballymachugh.

Shercock Festival


Where: Shercock
When: May 2-4
What: Festival kicks off Friday with a murder mystery style treasure hunt.
Sunday features a fair day on Main Street and Sunday night will see 'Singing down the Decades’ in the hall followed by Voice of Ireland star Brendan McCahey and band till late.

Tullyvin Fair


Where: Tullyvin
When: Bank Holiday Monday, May 5
What: Fair opens at noon. Special attractions ceili dancing at the crossroads, dog show, hen race, raffle for calf, spring lamb and laying hen on the day. Prizes for best dressed lady and best dressed man. There will be demonstrations, craft fair, competitions, vintage cars, cattle, poultry and lots of free entertainment for children. Come along and have a great time at Tullyvin Fair. See page 46 for more.

Percy’s Party!
Where: Hunt Hall, Castle Street, Mohill

What: Friday May 2 'Big Maggie’, Saturday May 3 'Re-enactment of court case between Percy French and the West Clare Railway and a short performance by 'Sweet Spirit Gospel Choir’, Sunday, May 4: Percy, his jarvey Paddy Reilly and the great Stephen Foster of 'Hard Times Come Again No more’ and 'Way Down upon the Swanee River’ fame will present a Gala Show.

Vintage auction


Where: Cloverhill Auction Rooms

What: A vintage and collectibles auction extravaganza is the perfect place to spend your bank holiday Monday. The auction takes place on Monday, May 5, at 2pm. This upcoming auction boasts automobiles and 20 vintage motorbikes spanning from the 1920s to the late 1970s, bicycles, motoring advertisements, horse drawn vehicles and their usual selection of collectibles, with clocks including a Goulding’s Manure wall clock.

Bealtaine Celebrations
