Gardai are investigating the assault of a boy (14) at a youth disco.

Boy (14) assaulted, knocked unconscious at youth disco

A 14-year-old boy was hospitalised with concussion and kept overnight after he was assaulted at a teenage disco in west Cavan at the weekend.
After a complaint of assault, Gardai say they are now following a definite line of enquiry in connection with the incident which occurred at Sleeper’s Niteclub in Templeport last Friday night, July 25.
The young boy, The Anglo-Celt understands, suffered concussion as a result of the suspected assault. He was cared for at the scene by trained medical staff until the emergency services arrived and was taken to Cavan General Hospital for further treatment.
Gardai at this stage are unaware of whether an item was used in the course of the assault being committed, and are appealing for witnesses to come forward on the matter.
The monthly, alcohol-free youth disco, operated by the Templeport Resource Centre and local GAA, attracts large crowds from across Cavan and surrounding areas, including from neighbouring counties in Leitrim and Fermanagh.
The young boy was kept overnight for examination at Cavan General before being released the following day. He is said to be recovering well.
