Monaghan plant capable of laundering 20m litres of fuel per year uncovered

In an intelligence-led operation last night (Monday, November 3, Revenue officials supported by An Garda Síochána, uncovered a large oil laundering plant in Drumboat, Inniskeen.

The plant had the capacity to launder approximately 20m litres of fuel per annum.
The oil laundering plant and a mobile oil laundry concealed in an oil tanker were uncovered in a commercial yard. 50,000 litres of laundered fuel, 3 oil tankers, 2 stationary tanks and ancillary equipment were seized from the site. Toxic waste was also uncovered.
One male aged 42 was arrested and was taken to Carrickmacross Garda Station.
Investigations are ongoing with a view to prosecution.
