Dylan in live semi finals of britains got talent this week

Sixteen-year-old Dylan Byrd from Clifferna will represent Cavan in the live semi-finals of Britain's Got Talent this week.

The hip-hop sensation found out on Saturday evening's show, broadcast on UTV and TV3, that he had made it through to the live shows - only one of 45 acts to do so.

Dylan, who got three 'yeses' from the BGT judges at his audition even winning over Simon Cowell, is hopeful of changing Alesha Dixon's mind. She was the only judge to say no to the Cavan lad.

Earlier this month the Celt caught up with Dylan and his family at home where he said: “It's all been amazing. A bit unreal!”

The self taught dancer is still getting to grips with his new-found fame and is finding life at school in St Aidan's Comprehensive in Cootehill more than a bit 'different' since dramatic his TV debut.

The trip to the Manchester audition of Britain's Got Talent was Dylan's first out of the country. His mother Jenny is so proud of her son - the second youngest of eight children.

'I was really nervous for him, but he got through it. We’re very happy for him. We’re very proud,” she said.

Of his dancing Dylan said: 'When I dance at home, I just pretend no one else is there. I listen to the music and I just go for it. So in Manchester, when I was on stage I tried to imagine myself still in my bedroom, even though there were thousands of people there... and I just danced.”

He admits that the experience on BGT has increased his confidence further and reveals that winning first place at the school's in-house talent competition gave him the courage to go for Britain's Got Talent.

“I was really shy in first year and didn’t really talk much. Nobody really knew I danced but when I did, I think it surprised a few people.

“Going on BGT, and getting the yeses that I did, especially from Simon, that’s been a big thing for me.”

As for the all important row on The Anglo-Celt’s Facebook page over where Dylan is from, he finally puts the debate to rest, somewhat. “I’m from Clifferna... Clifferna, Stradone!”

The live semi finals of Britain's Got Talent will air every night this week at 7:30pm on TV3. We wish Dylan the best of luck.
