Man dies in car crash on Monaghan to Clones road

Gardaí in Monaghan are investigating a fatal road traffic collision which occurred at Aghalisk, Co Monaghan on January 5.
The collision beween two cars occurred at approximately 6.30pm on the Monaghan to Clones Rd (N54) approximately two miles outside Monaghan town. The male driver (68 years) of one car was fatally injured in the collision and pronounced dead at the scene, his body has been removed to the Morgue in Monaghan. The female driver (58 years) of the second car received minor injuries and has been taken to Cavan General Hospital. There were no passengers in either cars.
The road is closed to facilitate a Forensic collision examination and local traffic diversions are in place. It is expected that the road will remain closed until at least this afternoon.
