New €113K skatepark for Cavan Town

Work on the eagerly awaited €113,000 skateboard park at the Con Smith Park in Cavan Town is set to get underway in the coming weeks.
Cavan County Council has awarded the tender to Bristol company, Canvas Spaces Limited, which boasts over 10 years of experience in creating skateparks.
The project is expected to take six weeks to complete.
Cavan Monaghan ETB chief executive Martin O’Brien told a meeting of the board at Inver College in Carrickmacross last Wednesday that he had received a request from Cavan County Council seeking access through Cavan Institute grounds to facilitate the construction of the park. It will involve the removal of a short section of a wooden fence and three carpark spaces at Cavan Institute, which will be reinstated after construction.
Approval of the board to proceed was granted on the proposal of Cllr Madeleine Argue (FF), seconded by Cllr Clifford Kelly (FF).
