As the country gears up for the start of the RBS 6 Nations this weekend, two local musicians have answered Ireland call in a different way, by providing the opening title music sequence to RTE's coverage.

Composer John Walsh, a member of The Carnival Brothers fame, along with his cousin and Strypes' drummer Evan Walsh are behind the epic one minute 21 second intro.

Produced by Michael McKeon, with music by John Walsh, and special thanks to Strypes' band manager Niall Walsh, a video has been posted online giving a 'Making of..' behind-the-scenes look at the musical coming together.

An award winning Composer and Songwriter with twenty years experience working in the industry, John's other work can be heard on the eir commercial as well as various film's from Proof to Goodbye My Brother, a film by Dermot Malone.

RTE's coverage of this week's first round of games starts 2pm on Saturday, with France v Italy (Kick-off 2.25pm). Daire O'Brien presents coverage of the opening match of this year's championship, staged at the Stade de France, with Scotland v England to follow (Kick-off 4.50pm), and Ireland v Wales at the Aviva Stadium on Sunday (Kick-off 3.00pm).
