Cavan family win over €90K in national lottery

A jubilant Cavan family dropped into National Lottery HQ today to collect their cheque for €94,673 after they matched five numbers and the bonus ball in the May Bank Holiday’s Saturday, April 30 Lotto draw.

The winning family who wish to remain private, bought their Quick Pick Play ticket at Kennedy’s Supermarket in Ballyconnell on the day of the draw.

They only realised that they had the lucky ticket on Tuesday evening when they checked their winning numbers in a nearby shop upon hearing news of the local Lotto win on the radio.

Speaking about how they realised they had the winning ticket, one of the winners said, 'I bought the ticket on Saturday evening and left it in the car and thought no more about it.

'After hearing about the winning ticket in the area, I finally checked it on Tuesday in the shop and I was told to contact National Lottery headquarters. I rang the National Lottery offices and they informed us of our win. That was a great occasion, to share that feeling with our family around us.'

Speaking about their plans for their winnings, they said, 'We will be putting a lot of the money aside for the education of our children. We would also like to spend some money to start a small family business but in the short-term we will first enjoy a nice family holiday to celebrate the win properly.'

Saturday’s draw also produced a second Match 5 + Bonus winner, who has yet to come forward. The winning ticket was sold in Manorhamilton, Co. Leitrim. The ticket holder has 90 days to claim their prize, so check your tickets.
