€10k tablets seized by gardai Baileborough

Gardai have seized 'sleeping tablets' with a street value in excess of €10,000 at an address in Baileboro, Co. Cavan.

As part of ongoing investigations targeting criminal activity in the Dublin Region , a number of vehicles were stopped on the M1 motorway just north of Swords, Co. Dublin, on the evening of June 14, by Gardaí from the Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau.

During this operation €350,000 in cash was seized and three men in their 40s were arrested. The cash was in vacuum packs, in a holdall bag.
Follow up searches were conducted in a number of areas, with the assistance of Gardaí from the Dublin Region and Cavan District, resulting in a vacuum packing machine and associated equipment being recovered at an address in Tallaght, Dublin 24.

A further follow up search locally uncovered Zopiclone tablets with a street value in excess of €10,000 being recovered at the Cavan address.

Two of those arrested have been released pending the submission of files to the Director of Public Prosecutions. One remains in custody at Swords Garda Station, detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
