BREXIT FALLOUT: Question mark now over cross-border funded projects

An EU body over cross-border funding for projects has said that money will now be the subject of UK and EU negotiations, due to the shock Brexit result this morning.

The Special EU Programmes Body says it is currently awaiting guidance from the Department of Finance in Northern Ireland on the implications of the recent referendum decision.

'It is anticipated that all EU Programmes including PEACE IV and INTERREG VA will form part of the discussions that are to take place between the UK government and the European Union during the upcoming negotiations,' said a statement from the body.

'In the interim, the SEUPB will continue to implement the delivery of PEACE IV and INTERREG VA in its role as Managing Authority for the Programmes.

'The Irish Government remains committed to the successful implementation of the PEACE and INTERREG Programmes.'
