Children wouldn't do this - TD on illegal dumpers

The growing problem of illegal dumping in the county has again reared ugly its head, this time in Bailieborough, at a free recycling centre, which a local TD says is an act a that demands “naming and shaming”.
At some point late last week over a dozen bags and numerous boxes of domestic waste were dumped overnight at the recycling facility at Tesco, adding to the recent desecration of tourist sights and public facilities around the county.
Cavan County Council says it was notified of the dumping on Monday morning and has cleared the site.
“It’s hugely disappointing to see domestic rubbish in black bags just dumped at a free recycling bin provided,” said Bailieborough TD Niamh Smyth of the dumping.
“People just need to separate their rubbish and recycle it and, in fairness, the council are doing two pick-ups there a week,” she continued.

'Unbelieveable’
“It’s just unbelievable in this day and age that people would do that. It’s not council property so they can’t be asked any more but we need to know who is doing this because it’s most unfair to Tesco, too, who are facilitating this,” she said.
The Fianna Fáil woman said she would not support jail terms for those responsible but would back their “naming and shaming”.
“This is being done under the darkness of night so we need to know who because it’s an ongoing and growing problem at tourist spots and places like Castle Lake and Corkish Lane, where a lot of people live and it’s so unfair and it’s getting worse - kids wouldn’t do what adults are clearly doing.”
“It’s a free service and therefore must be respected, otherwise there’s McElvaney’s in the town where you pay three or four euros and you get rid of everything.”
