Two arrested as €70k counterfeit goods seized

As part of an on going investigation into the distribution of counterfeit goods, Gardaí from the Crime Unit attached to Cavan Garda station, the National Bureau of Criminal Investigation, and Revenue Customs supported by Irish Recorded Music Association (IRMA) seized the counterfeit goods worth €70,000.

The IRMA is a non-profit association set up to manage and control the music industry in the Republic of Ireland.

The counterfeit goods seized consist of DVD's and Beauty Products, and the seizure was made following a planned search at a premises on the Main Street, Cavan yesterday.

The items included box-sets of hit horror series The Walking Dead, which can retail for up to 30, and new The Avengers movie.

Two people, a man (32) and a woman (36), were arrested at the scene and are currently detained at Ballyconnell Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 as amended.
