Det Gda Donohoe for posthumous award

Detective Garda Adrian Donohoe will today be posthumously awarded the Scott Medal at a ceremony at the Garda College.

Tánaiste and Minister for Justice, Frances Fitzgerald TD, and Garda Commissioner Nóirín O’Sullivan will attend and address the event.

The Scott Medal is An Garda Síochána’s highest honour.

Detective Garda Adrian Donohoe will be posthumously awarded the Gold Scott Medal for the exceptional courage and bravery he showed at Lordship Credit Union, Co Louth, on 25th January 2013, which saw him give his life to protect others.

A number of other members of An Garda Síochána will receive Silver and Bronze Scott Medals, and Commissioner’s Commendations on the day for bravery in the line of the duty.
