Christmas comes early for someone as winning lotto ticket sold in Bailieboro

Christmas has come early for some lucky Cavan punter after they scooped the Christmas Eve Lotto Jackpot of over €4.5M.

The Anglo-Celt understands that the winning ticket was sold in Harris's SuperValu in Bailieborough.

It's understood that the owner of the store, Lorraine Harris, was contacted by Lotto Headquarters to inform her that she had sold the winning ticket.

It would not be the first major win for the store, after it sold a €3M winning ticket back in 2012 - making it one of the luckiest shops in the country.

Officially, the National Lottery has confirmed that there was one winner of the Christmas Eve Jackpot of €4,577,663 'in the North'.

The numbers drawn were 8 - 10 - 11 - 16 - 40 - 42 and the bonus number was 38.

Locals will wake on Christmas morning to the news of the lucky, mystery winner.

Bailieborough Fianna Fáil TD, Niamh Smyth, has congratulated the mystery winner and Ms Harris and her staff on the win.
