VOX POP: Backing the boys in blue!

As the fall-out of the Garda breath test saga continues, with pressure on the Garda Commissioner Nóirín O'Sullivan to consider her position, Tara McGahan took to the streets of Cavan Town today to find out if the public had lost faith in the Gardaí...

Rafal Siwek, Cavan Town, feels the Gardaí are doing their job and helping people in need.

“I know some guards, and they have helped me. I'm very happy with them, they're nice men, and women of course. They're like guardian angels.”

Darren Smith, Ballyhaise, thinks Noirín O'Sullivan should stay put.

“I haven't lost my faith in the guards, no. I don't think the Garda Commissioner should resign.”

John Hopkins, Cavan, says we're all human.

“They're doing their job, not without some mistakes every now and again. We're humans, we're not perfect, what you find in regular human beings you find in them aswell. So, there are good ones, professional ones, and in my experience there are some of them with a little bit of questionable character.”

Joanna Klimczak from Cavan feels that everyone makes mistakes, even the Gardaí.

“We are only human and sometimes we make mistakes, but I still think they do a good job.”

Zoe Walsh, from Cavan remains strong in her faith for the police force.

“No I haven't lost faith in the Gardaí, I still think they're doing their job.”

Bryan Gaffney, Ballinagh, is adamant the Gardaí are are worth having faith in.

“I probably haven't lost my faith in the guards, I've heard the scandal with the Garda Commissioner but I still do believe in them.”
