Met Eireann say that Saturday will be “a dry, bright day, with good sunny spells generally”

Summer sun makes early appearance

It's time to purchase some sun cream, but not too much, as Met Eireann say the weekend will get off to a glorious start on Saturday with highs of 18 degrees across the country.

Cavan will see sunshine with temperatures in the high teens when the sun breaks through the cloud. Fog and haze will keep the temperatures down in the south and south-east.

Parts of the county will feel Mediterranean on Saturday as the mercury climbs. However it is not expected that the good times will be here for long.

Met Eireann say that Saturday will be “a dry, bright day, with good sunny spells generally”. They want that the sunshine will turn hazy in southern and eastern parts of the country with moderate south to southeasterly breezes.

By Saturday night the cloud will increase from the northwest with patchy rain or drizzle developing. By then the lowest temperatures will be around 6 to 8 degrees in light to moderate southerly winds.
The forecast for Sunday is not so good as it will have a cooler feel to the day, mostly cloudy with outbreaks of rain spreading eastwards across the northern half of the country during the morning and afternoon. Highest temperatures 11 to 14 degrees, perhaps touching 15 degrees in the southeast.

Much of the country will be dry on Monday but there'll be showers along the north coast.
