Blue skies over Cavan town today

Warm weather set to continue

Cavan is set to continue to bask in the sunshine for the rest of the week with a particularly warm Sunday on the cards. Tomorrow the temperatures may dip to 15C, but Sunday should be a 20C scorcher.

Yesterday the mercury hit a high of 17.6C in the West of the country and although today will feel a lot cooler Friday, will be a windy, blustery day, feeling much cooler due to a fresh to strong and gusty easterly wind.

Joanna Donnelly, of Met Eireann, said: “Today is going to be dry and sunny and Friday will be similar, but we have an easterly breeze so the East coast will be feeling a little cooler with temperatures about 13 to 14 degrees.”

Saturday will be a generally cloudy day with isolated drizzle patches. While Sunday will see lengthy spells of sunshine likely to develop countrywide, although it may be a cloudy start with the odd spot of drizzle for southwestern counties.

On Monday there is some uncertainty pertaining to fronts in the Atlantic beginning to encroach on western and southwestern coasts, but the most likely scenario is for another mostly dry day with decent sunny spells. Temperatures will nudge close to 20 degrees Celsius in western areas, but locally rather cold near the east coast thanks to a northeasterly sea breeze.
