Prince Harry meets Belturbet school students

Pupils from St Bricin’s College, Belturbet met Prince Harry earlier this month at an event to celebrate the work of Co-operation Ireland and officially launch Year two of Co-operation Ireland's Amazing The Space programme.

St Bricin’s College took part in the first year of the programme, during which pupils developed a peace statement that they pledged to live out.

Students Stephen Trenier and Tara Hegarty received their school’s specially framed peace pledge from the Prince and Dr. Christopher Moran, Chairman of Co-operation Ireland.

During his first official visit to Northern Ireland, Prince Harry took time to speak to many of the young people involved in Co-operation Ireland’s programme.

““This is a new generation of royals speaking to a new generation. During the walkabout at the MAC Theatre, Prince Harry engaged with all the young people who had gathered and he was keen to see how Co-operation Ireland’s programme had impacted on their lives,” said Co-operation Ireland Chief Executive Peter Sheridan. He added that the Prince also spoke “passionately and powerfully” to the young people about having “the courage to take the lead” in peace-building in their own communities.
