Thieves cut and drill locks

Padlocks were snapped and door locks drilled and cut out in just some of the latest burglaries reported in the local area over the past week.

On April 2 last, it’s understood that raiders fled, having been disturbed, as they were in the process of attempting to gain entry to a property at Hollyback, Arvagh.
The incident occurred between 10pm and 7am on April 3, with owners discovering evidence of the attempted break-in the following morning.
Two days later on April 4, at Knocktaggart, Stradone, the locks on a shed were cut and a selection of tools, including strimmers, were taken.
This was followed up by the reported theft of a ride-on mower from a shed near Gowna on April 5, as well as drills from another property in the early hours between April 5-6.

Wallet taken
Meanwhile a wallet was taken from a house in the Church View area of Cavan Town. The theft is understood to have occurred between the hours of 7.15pm and 8.30pm on April 8, and was reported stolen by the owners at 10pm.

Gardaí clamp down on drug activity

Gardai in the Cavan area have completed a number of drug seizures as they ramp up pressure of drug activity in the local area.

A small quantity of heroin was recovered after officers on street patrol stopped and searched a person on April 8 last.
The drug is subject to analysis.
The stop and searches follows two further seizures, which occurred on April 4, when gardaí recovered two small amounts of cannabis.
 

Theft of tools from ESB site

Gardai are appealing to members of the public for assistance following a break-in at the ESB yard near Cavan Town at the weekend. Two containers at the site at Moynehall were broken into, after which equipment including cutting tools to the value of €1,000 were taken.

 

Car stolen

Gardaí are also seeking help in tracing the whereabouts of a car, a ‘12’ reg Audi A4, taken from outside a house in Ardamagh, Ballyhaise, on April 5 last. It’s understood the theft occurred between the hours of 11pm and 3am.
