Gardai warn against bogus caller

Gardai in Cavan have warned members of the public to remain vigilant in terms of unsolicited or bogus callers to homes and properties in the region.
It comes after two separate alerts were issued at the weekend in relation to vans, one blue and one white, containing persons acting suspiciously at houses in Aughavilla, Milltown, and Tawlaught, Belturbet areas at the weekend.
A spokesperson for An Garda Siochana cautioned members of the public against leaving gardening equipment unattended, or when storing items, ensure they are locked away securely.
It follows too a series of burglaries in the local area over the past week, at a house near Killeshandra between the hours of 10pm and 8am on April 16-17 last.
Power tools and a lawnmower, with a total value of €2,800 were taken during the burglary, while a ride-on lawnmower was taken from an unlocked shed at Corlismore between the hours of 5pm and 10am, April 20-21.
Meanwhile, an hydraulic ram attached to an agitator was taken from a farmyard, also near Killeshandra, on April 21 last.
Gardai are appealing to the public for assistance in relation to the incidents, and any witnesses or person with information of suspicious activity can contact them at 049 43 68800.
